Saipan Middle Road Chronicles: #1

The folks over at Middle Road have the amazing ability to generate dozens and even hundreds of comments on their blog posts. I don't know how they do it, but there seems to be a relationship to how often they use my name and how busy the G Man, aka Glen Hunter of Guam, is at work that week (that was Jeff's joke. Good one, Jeff).

I wrote a post earlier this week about how often Tina Sablan's supporters write nasty things about me on the different Saipan blogs. I've come to the conclusion that I somehow threaten them. Maybe they think I have political ambitions and maybe they are trying to keep me from running for governor in 2019.

Whatever the reason, their rude, personal attacks continue unabated even though I am not running for office.

Take this for example:

In the Middle Road post titled, "Governor Race on for Angelo, Cinta and Heinz" somebody commented that we need "straight shooters" to run for office, inferring, of course, that I am not a straight shooter. They wrote:

there's a huge difference between "threaten" and disgust sblogger.

(snip)

...and it's not about age... it's about being a straight shooter and not just spilling drivle to get votes. there are a good number of individuals in the community who seem pretty straight and capable...tina sablan, mike sablan, cinta kaipat, frica pangelinan, ray tebuteb, frank rabauliman, to name just a few.
Rev, one of the Middle Road bloggers, in response to the straight shooter comment wrote:

i know some that are not straight...;-)
Bruce, thinking that this was funny, prodded Rev with:

Which ones Rev?
Envelop Ideas further prodded Rev to spill the beans on our not so straight lawmakers with:

To Rev, can you give as a clue? For example, ex journalist or the guy doesn't like Tina, etc. Let's play Guess Who?
Envelop Ideas is of course suggesting that Brad, "the ex journalist," and I, "the guy doesn't like Tina," are gay. Envelop Ideas obviously misses the main point of the discussion, which is focused on lawmakers being or not being "straight."

My explanation for this change of focus?

Envelop Ideas must fantasize about Saipan's Sexiest Blogger (Brad) and the CNMI's Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda Next Governor (me) having hot man on man action. That is the only plausible reason for taking a conversation about gay lawmakers and trying to turn it into a conversation about gay soccer players.

Then it gets really fun. An anonymous commenter comes out of left field with:

here's a clue... the guy who doesn't like Tina has an unusually large head (unfortunately it isn't used to house a larger than average brain) and he loves to threaten good people with the "Spam Police" after riding their coat-tails. Here's another clue...he's part of an organization that was booming, that had a clear vision and incredible community motivation...as soon as Tina left the organization has slowly deteriorated, due to lack of leadership and a total loss of clear vision and most importantly leadership...the hater is one of the "leadership". So there are your clues...Good Luck!
I'm not really sure what anonymous is trying to say. We were talking about guessing which lawmakers were gay, then Envelop Ideas tried to suggest that Brad and I were gay. Then anonymous tries to give us a clue...

Hmmm....

Envelop Ideas was suggesting that I was gay and anonymous offers proof of my big head and my involvement with Beautify CNMI. Is this Tina Sablan supporter suggesting that having a big head and volunteering for Beautify CNMI makes you gay? That's what his pathetic usage of the English language leads me to believe.

I think Tina Sablan needs to apologize to all full headed boys and Beautify CNMI volunteers for her supporters suggesting that we are gay...or she could just have her supporters stop attacking me.

This totally reminds me of how girls in high school liked to "fight". It's the cruel intentions gang on the blogosphere. What I truly despise is that none of them have enough guts to use their names. I have a few theories on who they are based on what I know from other people and words they like using. Idiosyncrasies have a way of acting like tracking devices.

Sorry you're going through this, buddy. I'm trying to think what I would do if in your shoes, and I'm not sure. A big part of my would want to just change the channel, ignore it, don't even look at the blog. As long as people hide behind pseudonyms, I consider it all just jealous cheap shots, despite repeated calls from them to "focus on the issues, not the anonymity of the writer." It all borders on calumny.

I think you are making an unfair tie-in. It is you that needs to apologize to Tina Sablan. There is no indicator that any of those posts are from her "supporters". Looks to me like they are people that just don't much care for you. One of those post list many other people beside Tina Sablan. Do you have a thing for her? Is that why you are hell bent on trying to establish a relationship between these mean posts and her or her supporters. Take them for what they are --- posts from people that don't much care for you. I looked back again at your last post on this subject and sure enough only one has any tie to Tina Sablan. These new posts you added here simply use someone’s dislike of Tina Sablan as an indicator of a certain individual. Seeing as how you have opted to point out on your own that you believe it is you than it is your own self that has drawn the connection.

I am too busy fighting for the rights of large headed boys around the world to have an argument with someone unwilling to attach their name to a simple blog comment.

Even if none of the posts are from her supporters, someone should let her know this is going on. I'm pretty sure she isn't the kind of person who would let others drag someone's name in the mud to so that they could glorify her own. She's too honest for that.

Pragmatic Plato said...

Seems to me that they are dragging him through the mud for his own doing not anything Tina Sablan has said or done. Why would she even care?

Saipan Writer said...

Perhaps they think big-headed boys like mud?

As Hermione Granger says repeatedly to Harry: Ignore it.

Stop infuriating people by trying to clean up the island and create a sustainable environment, Angelo. That stuff pisses people off.

It's true, I'm gay. Gay like a fox! But not a fox who lies co...

Nice to get a good laugh on my trip back to the NMI.

Sly as a lark? Gay as a fox?

Boni said...

Why would she care? I would never let people trash someone else on my behalf. That's just WRONG. WRONG you hear me. Shouldn't she care? Maybe I am being presumptuous. Maybe

I'm with Jeff again. Stop doing what you say will do and stop volunteering for crying out loud. It's so damn irritating how you go around making Saipan prettier for us all. Pretty doesn't look good. How are all the politicians going to use "pretty"? Geez.
