Florida Presidential Primary

I've already requested my Florida Presidential Primary ballot. They've already sent me my list of candidates. Pretty soon I'll get my sample ballot and then a whole bunch of campaign fliers.

In 2006 I got my ballot for the September 5 Gubernatorial primary on August 8. If the Orange County Supervisor of Elections is as efficient as he was last time, that means I'll probably get my ballot right around the first day of 2008.

So who should I vote for?

If you write in Katherine Harris I know you've really been in the sun too long.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Does Florida separate its primary by party (so you pick Democrat or Republican)? Obviously, I don't pay close enough attention to all of this!

Yes, you pick a party when you register to vote. That qualifies you to vote in a primary. If you are an Independent voter you do not get to vote in the primaries, therefore it pays to pick a party.

I've never lived in FL but have to assume that anti-gun initiatives never make it very far, yeah?

I have never heard of an anti-gun initiative in Florida, but we have had one for pregnant pigs.

Orlando might be heading for one soon though. 2007 was the most violent year on record.
