Big Time Corruption

It is difficult to keep track of all the corruption scandals in Saipan these days, but the one about the Secretary of Commerce allegedly arranging a $400,000 contract for himself and his buddies (while in office) has hit the pages of the New York Times:
Government officials in the Northern Mariana Islands violated ethics rules when they handed an almost $400,000 contract to the former Commerce secretary's new company, according to the Department of Interior's inspector general.
Not too long ago the former Secretary of Commerce was one of the recently returned golden boys and the island had high expectations for him. Oh, well.
