Laulau Bay Cliff Jumping

Don't let the Japanese golfers and the idyllic scenery fool you, this is the site where adventure seeking soon-to-be middle aged haoles prove to themselves that they've "still got it." I imagine that I'll be one of those people in about a decade.

I ran into several of the CNMI Soccer players and Coach Ziggy during this morning's Beautify CNMI cleanup of North AND South Laulau Beaches. They invited EJ and me to join them in some "cliff jumping," which is something that people like to do around here when Blockbuster runs out of new movies.

The cliff jumping spot is on the Kagman peninsula, just south of the Laolao Bay Golf Resort. It is at the end of the long coral road that starts near the yellow bus stop in San Vicente.

There are some smaller jumps right there at the end of the road, but if you have some cojones grandes and you want to try a 50 foot jump, you have to cross part of the golf course...just make sure that you don't bother the golfers.

When the golfers drove off in their golf carts, we ran across the grass to get closer to the water:

Then we climbed over the sharp rocks to get to the cliff's edge:

Laulau Bay CliffThis is what looking over the cliff looks like:

Laulau Bay ClifflineThe cliff is about 50 ft high, which I think is a perfectly good reason NOT to jump.

Yeah right, check this out:

After the jump, you have to swim around the cliff back to where the smaller cliff jumps are located.

Ziggy and EJ opted not to do the cliff jump. They posed for a souvenir photo instead. How exciting!

Yeah, so I didn't jump either. Taking photos and shooting video provided all the excitement I could handle.

Wait, I was counting silently! Great pics - thank you for posting them. By the way, I've been doing this since you were in diapers, so I guess it is not a middle-aged thing. You shouldn't really wait until you get there. Next weekend?

I love the video. It's interesting that you chose the Hard Gay theme song.

I've always wondered if there was anyone crazy enough to jump those cliffs everytime I played Laulau East. I wonder no more. I just might jump the cliffs next time I'm playing a round of golf. The water below both holes 6 and 7 tee-off boxes look particularly inviting. Thanks for letting me know it can be done.
Everything I know, I learned on the internet.
