Today I wore my good zorries

Today was a pretty exciting day. John McCarroll and Pat Young from EPA Region 9 presented Beautify CNMI! with the 2007 Environmental Award for Outstanding Achievement in front of the Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of Public Works, Director of Fish & Wildlife, and the Director of the Division of Environmental Quality.

This was my first official function with Ben Fitial. We've done a lot of other proclamation signings and what not over the last few months, but the governor missed a lot of them because of his back problems. I've met the governor several other times, though. He never misses the chance to tell other people that he is my uncle or conversely, that I am his nephew. I'm not sure of the blood relation (I think it is through the Garrido bloodline?), but the governor's godfather was my grandfather. By Chamorro convention, he and my father were godbrothers.

Cinta accepted the award on everyone's behalf.

Can someone send me a good group shot of that happening?

John had a lot of nice things to say about the work that Beautify CNMI has accomplished in the last year.

We will celebrate this great accomplishment tonight at the Beautify CNMI gay beauty pageant.

I bet you can't wait for those pictures.

Angelo, it seems as though life is going very well for you. I was reminiscing about our trip to Japan with my parents today and thought I'd check in. We are all so very proud of you and we'll always think of you as family!

Want to trade kids? We can send Emily to go ride around with Jim in his Hummer and you can make me pizza rolls?

Congratulations, and well done. To bad the photos didn't show the zorries.
