Carnival of the Blue XV

This month's best ocean blogging can be found at Carnival of the Blue XV hosted by Sea Notes. My submission this month is about the recent visit by the USS Houston to Saipan.

I am the host of next month's Carnival of the Blue. The carnival will celebrate his (her?) Sweet Sixteen on The Saipan Blog!

This is a great opportunity for the Saipan bloggers to showcase themselves. Can everyone plan on doing an ocean blog this month? There are many topics on which to write. You can write about the lagoon, the beaches, fishing, diving, endangered species, conservation, or my favorite subject, the proposed Mariana Trench Marine National Monument.

Carnival of the Blue XVI takes place on the first Monday in September, so get those ocean blogs posted and send me the links!

Speaking of links, are you posting the Tribune story or your own? The story as such isn't too exciting on either side.

Closed steam loops. The radioactive water wasn't exactly directly exposed to the pile. I'm sure the Navy is a bit embarrassed and a couple of otherwise good men have gone to the scrap heap for what will turn out to be a manufacturers fault. Not the environmental issue of the month. Is someone else focusing on the wasteful Westpac issues, that would be something hotter than residual steam waste. 'Sorry, just my two cents

My point was that this kind of thing is going to become that much more common with the increased militarization of Guam. We dodged the bullet this time, but will we every time?
