Everyone's Talking About...

I turned on my computer this morning and six minutes later received the following message:
Friend: did you hear about the Lt Gov?
Me: what?
Friend: he was indicted and turned himself in this morning.
Wow. News spreads fast. By lunchtime everyone was talking about it. It is the hot topic in our islands right now.

The media picked up on the story right away. Lil Hammerhead, KAP, and Wendy Doromal had blogs posted by noon, as did KUAM news in Guam. I'm sure KSPN will have a story out tonight and I know that the newspapers are working on stories.

Tim Villagomez lt GovernorLieutenant Governor Tim Villagomez is my cousin, my third cousin. We share the same great, great, grandfather, Joaquin Villagomez. He's a Kiyu and I'm a Laffet.

I try to keep this blog focused on soccer, conservation, bikini girls, and other nonsensical subjects...alright, I touch on politics now and then...but I figured an issue this big deserved a mention.

I imagine this will be the main topic of conversation in our islands for the next few months, so there will be plenty of time to comment.

i've got the first video of the lt. gov. being whisked away by legal counsel from the hoiguchi building, the actual press release from the u.s. attorney's office, and i'm currently adding the entire press conference onto youtube as well as the actual indictment.

exciting indeed!

So what's the difference between Kiyu and Laffet? Is that based on your great grandfather or something? Are there other names for Villagomez families (besides Kiyu and Laffet) descended from your great, great grandfather?

Just curious.
