John McCain and the Marianas

I got a chuckle out of this story on MSNBC:
The seating is perhaps a window into the states the McCain campaign thinks are important. Hint: It's not Guam or the Northern Marianas Islands. They are way in the back and the Northern Marianas sign is barely legible and covered over by a black drape [emphasis mine].
...and before someone leaves a comment, I know that the Democrats don't even recognize the Northern Mariana Islands. At least the Republicans get a seat in the back row.

You remind me of a piece on the Democrat's platform in the New York Times:

As the end approaches, the issues start to blur. Is there really no “White House advisor on Indian Affairs” already? The “self-determination and sovereignty of Native Hawaiians?” Fine with me. The last paragraph is entitled, “Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands.” Translation: “Let’s wrap this up and go have a drink.”
